About the Summit
The world is entering one of the most critical periods in human history. Environmental challenges that once appeared as isolated concerns have now evolved into interconnected global crises affecting every nation, economy, ecosystem, and community. Climate change is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, resulting in rising temperatures, extreme weather events, sea-level rise, floods, droughts, wildfires, and increasing climate-related disasters across the globe. Biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate, forests and wetlands continue to disappear, freshwater resources are under immense pressure, air and water pollution threaten millions of lives each year, and unsustainable patterns of production and consumption are placing enormous stress on the planet’s natural systems.
At the same time, humanity faces emerging challenges that extend far beyond traditional environmental issues. Rapid urbanization, population growth, environmental health, waste management, plastic pollution, energy transition, food security, sustainable agriculture, environmental justice, green finance, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, the circular economy, artificial intelligence, and technological transformation are reshaping the global sustainability agenda. These complex challenges are no longer the responsibility of a single country, institution, discipline, or sector. They require integrated thinking, multidisciplinary research, technological innovation, evidence-based policymaking, and meaningful collaboration among governments, academic institutions, industries, civil society organizations, and local communities.
Although the international community has made significant commitments through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the KunmingβMontreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and numerous international environmental conventions, the pace of implementation remains insufficient. Scientific knowledge and technological innovation continue to advance rapidly; however, many research findings, innovative solutions, and best practices still fail to reach policymakers, industries, communities, and decision-makers where they can generate meaningful impact. Bridging the gap between knowledge and action has therefore become one of the defining challenges of our time.
Today’s environmental challenges cannot be addressed through isolated efforts or fragmented approaches. They demand collective responsibility, global dialogue, scientific cooperation, technological innovation, knowledge sharing, and long-term international partnerships. Every research finding, technological breakthrough, successful community initiative, and policy innovation has the potential to contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and environmentally responsible future. What is needed is an inclusive international platform where ideas can be presented, discussed, evaluated, refined, and translated into practical solutions.
It is with this vision that the 7th World Environment Summit 2026 has been conceived.
The 7th World Environment Summit will be organized by ESDA India (Environment and Social Development Association) in collaboration with Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, along with several distinguished national and international academic institutions, research organizations, industry leaders, and corporate partners. The Summit will be held from 22β26 October 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, bringing together researchers, academicians, policymakers, government officials, industry experts, research institutions, international organizations, and civil society representatives from around the world. It will provide a dynamic platform to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, promote collaborative research, and strengthen global partnerships for environmental sustainability and sustainable development.
The Summit is an international multidisciplinary platform established to bring together the global environmental community under one roof. It serves as a meeting point where science meets policy, innovation meets implementation, research meets practice, and local experiences contribute to global solutions. The Summit provides a unique opportunity for participants from diverse disciplines and countries to exchange knowledge, present original research, discuss emerging environmental challenges, showcase innovative technologies, share successful initiatives, and establish long-term collaborations that extend well beyond the conference itself.
The Summit is founded on the belief that environmental sustainability cannot be achieved by any single profession or discipline alone. Environmental scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, social scientists, economists, architects, lawyers, educators, planners, innovators, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, development practitioners, and policymakers all have essential roles in shaping sustainable societies. By bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives, the Summit promotes interdisciplinary dialogue that generates practical, science-based, and solution-oriented outcomes.
More than a scientific conference, the World Environment Summit is a platform for learning, collaboration, international networking, recognition, and inspiration. Through keynote lectures, invited talks, technical sessions, panel discussions, research paper presentations, poster presentations, institutional interactions, and international networking opportunities, participants will engage with globally recognized experts and fellow professionals from around the world. The Summit also promotes academic excellence by recognizing outstanding contributions through the ESDA International Awards and encourages new collaborations among universities, research institutions, industries, government agencies, and organizations committed to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The Summit welcomes original research, innovative case studies, policy analyses, technological developments, community-based initiatives, industrial best practices, and interdisciplinary approaches that contribute to addressing contemporary environmental challenges. It provides an exceptional opportunity for participants to disseminate their research findings, receive constructive feedback from experts, establish international academic networks, identify collaborative research opportunities, and contribute to meaningful discussions that can influence future environmental policies and practices.
Whether you are conducting laboratory research, developing innovative technologies, implementing sustainability programmes, shaping environmental policies, working with local communities, promoting corporate sustainability, or educating future generations, your knowledge, experience, and expertise have an important role to play in advancing global environmental action. Every meaningful idea has the potential to inspire positive change, and every collaboration has the potential to create lasting impact.
The 7th World Environment Summit 2026 warmly invites researchers, academicians, scientists, faculty members, research scholars, university students, engineers, healthcare professionals, environmentalists, lawyers, architects, planners, policymakers, government officials, corporate leaders, industrial professionals, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations, international agencies, development partners, media professionals, journalists, sustainability experts, innovators, and institutions from around the world to become part of this global platform.
We invite you to present your research, share your experiences, showcase your innovations, exchange knowledge, establish international collaborations, nominate outstanding achievements, support the Summit as a partner or sponsor, and contribute to developing practical solutions for a sustainable future.
